Engine Management Light Reminder! We need to give you an Engine Management Light Reminder! EML’s as there also known on cars need addressing before your MOT Test, as it will fail if you have one showing. What is an Engine Management Light?  Basically its a warning light that will appear on your dash, they come in many different forms depending on the vehicle and fault. The light stays on the dash to warn you that your cars computer has detected a problem within an area of your car and it needs investigating and fixing to turn the light off. Engine Management Light – are you ignoring yours? Engine Management Lights appear on your dashboard to alert you to a potential problem or fault with your vehicle.  I’m sure we have all been guilty of ignoring them and hoping they will go away.  Unfortunatley by ignoring them it could actually cost you more in the long run,as you may continue driving the vehicle with a faulty part or problem which gives potential to actually cause more costly damage leading to a bigger repair bill. Southampton Auto Electricians – AMC Car Repairs – weekly update As many of you know we are Auto Electricians covering the Southampton & New Forest Area. What Fault Finding have AMC Car Repairs been up to recently? AMC Car Repairs have been busy fault finding in the Southampton area over the past few weeks,  we’ve travelled from Lymington & New Milton, round to Beaulieu, Holbury, Fawley & Hythe along the coast to Marchwood and Totton and battled through the horrendous traffic jams into southampton to jobs in Lordshill, harefield, millbrook & Northam, we have been all over the place. Reminder that if your car has a warning light on dash at time of MOT it may Fail Test! This is just a quick reminder to those of you who are not aware. If your car is displaying a warning light on the dashboard at the time of your MOT test it may Fail its MOT Test! Don’t leave it until your MOT is due! Warning lights show on your cars dashboard for exactly that reason. They are a warning that there is something wrong with your vehicle and its needs attention from a qualified mechanic. All too frequently we have cars that fail their MOT, due to having a warning light on their dash, the MOT requirements changed back in May 2018! Vehicle Steering & Suspension: What is Steering & Suspension?  The Steering & Suspension are key safety related systems that affects the way your car rides and handles.  You should have these sysetms checked regularly, at least once a year. What does the Steering & Suspension do?  The suspension maintains the relationship between the wheels and the frame of the car.  The suspension system interacts with the steering system to provide vehicle control.  When the system is working correctly, the suspension system helps absorb the irregularities in the road, such as potholes, rough terrain etc, but absorbing these irregularities it helps maintain vehicle stability.  The steering system transmits you input from the steering wheel to the steering gear and other steering components that control the cars direction, so if you move the wheel fiercely the car will steer in that direction … Continue reading →
