Car Maintenance: Cars can be expensive, but keeping on top of car maintenance and servicing can help reduce the costs in the long run.  By leaving a fault or not regularly maintaining your car, you increase the chances of the initial fault developing into something much worse and often costing you more to put right. Whats the difference between a MOT Test and a Car Service? I am amazed how many times each month I hear the words. ” I don’t know why my car has a fault its only just had its MOT test”. Now I am not saying this applies to all car drivers, however, we still come across many people who don’t understand the importance of regular car servicing, or the difference between a service and MOT. Engine Management Light – Now a fail on MOT Test

Engine Management Light – MOT Fail Your Engine Managment Light must come on with ignition then turn off when your engine is started. If your Engine Managment Light is faulty or displaying due to a fault you will automatically get a Major Fail on your MOT Test and the fault would need repairing before the vehicle can pass its MOT. Don’t leave it to the last minute or till your test day to address the engine management light fault as not only can a delay in resolving the fault cause more long term damage to the car, but it will no longer pass an MOT and be road worthy with the engine managment light fault.

Diesel Particulate Filter Removal finally being policed

Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Removal finally being policed by the DVSA. Nearly a year ago we wrote about changes that were due to be introduced regarding MOT tests and the removal of Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs). We also discussed the penalties to car owners for driving a non compliant vehicle. The DVSA are finally cracking down on Garages and MOT Testers who offer a DPF(Diesel Particulate Filter) Removal Service. The DVSA have given Two Sheffield Testers, a 2 year ban after being found to be selling DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) Removal Services, see link below to read the full story.
